About Us

Who we Are

Who we Are

Walsave Credit Union is a Financial Institution open to everyone who lives or works in the Walsall area.

Regulated by the Prudential Regulation Authority and the Financial Conduct Authority Reg No. 213796. We are also a member of the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS)

Our Story

Credit Unions are an international organisation who put their member’s needs before the needs of shareholders as they don’t have any. Credit Unions are run on a “not for profit” basis so you get the benefit on our expertise and profits. Any profit made is given back to the members as a Dividend based on how much you have saved. This together with the way we help the community and members makes Credit Unions an ethical way to save.

By becoming a member of a credit union you get the right to vote on all the matters at the Annual General Meeting which is held once a year.

In the UK Credit Unions are regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority ( FCA ) which means that Credit Unions run under strict guidelines and rules like any Bank or Building Society. This means that all money that you save within a Credit Union is protected and cannot be lost.

Walsave Credit Union has been operating within the Walsall area since 1996 so over the years our members have had the benefit of seeing their savings grow in an ethical way. We are based in 2 Offices and our plans are to ensure that we extend the types of services we offer and that we reach all parts of the Walsall area.

All our staff undergo a continuous training program to ensure they are up to date with all the rules and regulations that govern the financial market. This program extends to our Board of Directors, who are all volunteers, they bring with them expertise from numerous area of the business world. Part of Walsave’s ethos is to help people to develop and if you feel you would like to volunteer in offices we would welcome your time and help.

If you have any further questions about Walsave Credit Union or would like to volunteer to call our office on 01922 661059 where our friendly staff will happy to help you.
